Workshop content:

OCDs are difficult to treat.

Various studies have demonstrated that 15–40% of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) do not respond to treatment; they cannot be motivated to undergo treatment, drop out, or experience persistent difficulties in regulating their emotions. In this practical workshop, EMDR is presented as an additional method in the treatment of OCD.

OCD patients experience EMDR as a useful and motivating method.  Furthermore, they feel encouraged to deal with their emotions in additional psychological treatments. Confrontation therapy markedly reduces OCD symptoms.

EMDR will be shown as a useful augmentation method in treating patients with OCD by using videos, live-demonstrations and presentation.  Important interweaves for OCD patients, and their timing in therapy, will be shown.

Trichotillomania seems to be quite similar to treat – but in reality, a lot of changes have to be done to make a treatment work.  Differences in the use of EMDR will be shown and demonstrated.

Demonstrate the use of the EMDR protocol for OCD patients

Create specific interweaves for OCD patients
