Working with Dissociation using EMDR, presented by Dr Mel Temple

For its launching event, the EMDR Sussex Regional Group was delighted to welcome Dr Mel Temple.

Dr Temple is an EMDR consultant and a consultant psychiatrist and psychotherapist, specialising in working with dissociative patients. She has experience of residential services for complex trauma and DID residential service (The Kemp Unit, The Retreat, York), as well as secondary and tertiary NHS services, and services within military mental health.

The workshop explored best EMDR practice in working with dissociation, from simple dissociation to more complex and extreme presentations:

To improve understanding & identification of complex cases with dissociation in clinical practice
To support the development of skills in using the phased approach to treating complex trauma & dissociation
To understand common comorbidities in this patient group, their roles and impact.
To develop understanding and specific clinical skills in the application of EMDR in this clinical population
