More about GTEP and GREP

The GTEP protocol was designed by Elan Shapiro and combines the power of EMDR therapy with the simplicity of a guided but self-administered worksheet to ringfence the recent or ongoing traumatic experience. This makes it ideal as a brief intervention with frontline workers, ongoing stressors such as illness, recent events including traumatic grief and in time limited settings with few specialist resources.

The benefits of the GTEP Worksheet include:-

• It is highly versatile and can be used with groups, families, individuals or for trained professional’s self-care.

• It is a brief intervention with rapid effects

• It can be used hours immediately after an incident

• It can be used on consecutive days

• It is a visual worksheet so can be used by clients with communication difficulties

• It ring-fences points of disturbance for use with simple or complex trauma

• It reduces the possibility of long term PTSD effects

• It is effective for staff and resourcing.

GREP was developed in 2022 by Maria Masciandaro and the GTEP Executive team to support Ukrainian colleagues’ by modifying the GTEP worksheet to enhance positive resources.
