Supervised Practise and Networking Day

An opportunity for local EMDR therapists to connect, support and share techniques and ideas in their practice. In addition, the three workshops go through the core skills, resources and knowledge necessary in EMDR, as well as adaptations with teenagers, using the Standard EMDR protocol.
Please note, due to ill health, Maria Fragkou will no longer be presenting on this day. Helen Lea will be presenting on 'Resourcing in EMDR'.
Presentation 1 - 'Integrating EMDR with your core training' with Vicky Cuming
Vicky is an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner, Humanistic therapist and DIT (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist) and has recently completed Clinical Supervision training. She has 16 years of experience as a therapist. Previously she worked in the Humanitarian aid sector and had children. She has particular interests in how we hold conflicting ideas simultaneously, emergent behaviour, chaos and its relationship with creativity.
Vicky will describe how she integrates her core training and other theories into an EMDR way of working, focussing on the areas of ;
- formulation
- resourcing
- interweaves
- the therapeutic relationship
- There will be a practical session for participants to think about how they integrate their core training and other models into the 8 phases of the EMDR protocol.
Presentation 2 - 'Resources in EMDR' with Helen Lea
- This presentation provides an outline of the role of resource development in EMDR.
- Participants will have the opportunity to practice resource development and installation.
Presentation 3 - 'EMDR experiences with Teenagers' with Dr Ruth Henderson
Ruth is a Chartered and HSPC Registered Counselling Psychologist and EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner and has completed the Child & Adolescent training. Ruth has over 20 years experience as a therapist. She also is an active EMDR Sussex Board member since 2018.
- Ruth will emphasise the importance of using the 8-phases of EMDR to enable the adaptive information processing of trauma towards a healthy resolution. She will also present a case study where EMDR has been successful.
Lunch will be included.
Panel Discussion
The later afternoon will include a panel discussion with EMDR Consultants (Kara Davey, Gabriel Best and Helen Lea) so please consider sending questions in advance to the EMDR Sussex email account. There will be many opportunities to network with other EMDR therapists throughout the day.
- In order to attend this workshop, you need to have completed a minimum of Part 1 of EMDR training
