We warmly invite you to attend our AGM event and FREE CPD on the topic of ‘Working Therapeutically with Clients Accessing Pre-Trial EMDR Therapy’ presented by Raquel Correia — a great opportunity to build your CPD profile, expertise and meet other local EMDR practitioners. It’s an ideal chance to share thoughts on how we can continue to grow as a community.

Itinerary

7pm - Session starts including:

Working Therapeutically with Clients Accessing Pre-Trial EMDR Therapy, presented by Raquel Correia

Presentation objectives:

• Explore the significance of pre-trial therapy for clients involved in the Criminal Justice System (CJS).
• Discuss the unique complexities and dynamics of providing therapy within the CJS context.
• Examine the ethical and legal challenges, particularly balancing client confidentiality with legal obligations.
• Explain best practice and procedures governing the disclosure of therapy notes.
• Discuss the role of collaboration with the Police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
• Discuss documentation and note keeping.
• Discuss how to obtain and document informed consent for therapy in the pre-trial context.
• Share insights from the presenter experience in a unique national pilot project addressing psychological evidence in sexual violence cases.
• Equip delegates with knowledge to support clients involved in the CJS effectively

• Acknowledge clients' diverse experiences and recognise the intersectionality of clients and how these factors might influence their experiences within the CJS and therapy.
• Discuss the importance of therapists working within diversity and being culturally attuned
• Advocate for clients’ rights and dignity while navigating legal compliance.
